St Barbara’s Day Greetings 2003

 Saint Barbara’s Day Greetings – 04 December 2023

The Artillery Club’s Committee would like to extend our best wishes for St Barbara’s Day 2023, to all Gunner Officers, serving & retired, at home & overseas, and our friends & comrades in other arms.

St Barbara is the Patron Saint of Gunners across the world and her feast day, the 4th of December, will be celebrated wherever Gunners gather. We hope you enjoy the day wherever you are serving. This St Barbara’s day, is of particular significance to Óglaigh na hÉireann’s Artillery Corps, as it occurs in our Centenary Year and the 50th Anniversary of the Artillery Club.

The photograph is of the statue of St Barbara, now located at the Artillery School, Defence Forces Training Centre, Curragh Camp, Co Kildare, surrounded by artillery themed ironwork. Both the statue and the ironwork were relocated to the Curragh Camp, from the former Artillery Corps Depot, in Magee Barrack, Kildare, which was evacuated, along with Murphy Barracks, Ballincollig, Co Cork, 25 years ago this year.

May your limbers keep rolling along, on this St Barbara’s Day and for many more.
