Members of the Artillery Club & the wider Defence Community
On behalf of the Artillery Club’s Committee, I would like to wish all Gunners, at home & overseas, serving & retired, and our friends in the wider Defence Community, a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
in particular, I would like to thank all those who helped us in 2023, celebrate the Artillery Corps’s centenary of its formal establishment in 1923, the Artillery Club’s 50th Anniversary of its foundation and all the Club’s activities during the year.
The photograph is of Collins Barracks, Cork, in winter. This was the site of our Artillery Corps 100 Ceremony & Artillery Club 50th Anniversary Event in June 2023 and is the home of 1 Brigade Artillery Regiment and 1 Brigade Headquarters.
You are encouraged to visit the Artillery Club’s website, artilleryclub.ie which will include photographs & reports of all our events over 2023 and notifications of future ones.
As we enter this Christmas period, we think especially of all those deployed overseas in Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Kosovo, Germany, Bosnia, Italy and Uganda assigned to positions in Brussels, Vienna and New York, with the EU, NATO-PfP, OSCE and UN. We wish to all successful deployments and postings and a safe return to Ireland.
