Comdt Lar Joye coordinated the successful and enjoyable Field Trip visiting the Exhibition on the Irish Wars in Collins Barracks, Dublin, by kind permission of the National Museum of Ireland.
The comprehensive and informative tour of the Exhibition was conducted by its Curator, Brenda Malone.
The Exhibition which opened on 22 January, forms part of the Soldiers and Chiefs Exhibition, substantially “reimagined” as part of the National Museum of Ireland’s Decade of Centenaries Commemorations.
The Exhibition includes over 50 newly displayed objects, graphics and AV displays. Items returning on display after 15 years in storage, include the death masks of Arthur Griffith, Michael Collins, Cathal Brugha and Terence McSwiney.
The Exhibition is supported by a wide range of multimedia, including contemporary news reel film of searches, funerals, captures and destruction from the period 1919 – 1923.
